I was tagged by @lucysweatslove to play this tag game! This is a really fun one and I've done it before so I'm gonna do some different answers for this one.
RULES: you just got a kind of shitty old car and it doesn't have bluetooth. you can only buy 7 CDs and you can't repeat an artist. what are you getting?
1. What If I Break? By Wind Walkers
This is probably my most listened to album this year so it's essential
2. Blue Hour by Real Friends
My other most listened to album this year
3. Heavener by Invent Animate
If you know me, you know how much I love this band. I gotta include one of theirs and this is my favorite by them.
4. Youth by Citizen
I STAY bumping this record, it's just so good
5. The Difference Between Hell And Home by Counterparts
I don't even need to say anything about this one, I love counterparts with every part of me
6. Dark Before Dawn by Breaking Benjamin
I can honestly put any breaking ben album here but I go back to this one the most. I put linkin park on the other one because I listened to them a lot growing up but breaking benjamin was my other favorite band as a kid.
7. ruiner by nothing, nowhere
This album. Fuck. It came at a big time in my life and is still one that I go back to frequently.
Thanks for tagging me!

🎵💿 discography tag 💿🎵
Tagged by @dearscone - thank you friend 🌷
rules: pick an artist or band and share your favorite song from each of their albums, then tag some mutuals!
Okay, because I think they are criminally underrated and have been one of my all-time favourites since the tender age of 14, I'm going with Breaking Benjamin!
Saturate: Shallow Bay
We Are Not Alone: So Cold (one of my fav openers everrr)
Phobia: The Diary Of Jane / Dance With The Devil (I refuse to choose between them. Breath, I'm so sorry babe. This is my fav album of them)
Dear Agony: What Lies Beneath (it was SO hard to choose ugh, S-tier discography)
Dark Before Dawn: Close To Heaven
They have 2 more albums but I'm not including as I haven't listened to them yet/not enough times to form an opinion.
I'll be tagging @murderofcrow, @ardengrey, @arasdawn, @before-he-fell, @vesselsscarlet, @iwaslookingforartthenisawyou and whoever else feels like doing it!!

xmas in february! - daily notes - feb 16, 2024
Totally missed getting stuff for xmas 2022, then was late for xmas 2023 (the one that just passed). So I submitted my "wishlist" less than a week ago, and it's truly for the best that it worked out this way.
CDs:
Joywave - How Do You Feel Now?
Breaking Benjamin - Phobia; Dear Agony; Dark Before Dawn
Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre
Deftones - B-sides and Rarities
The Power Station - Power Station (Robert Palmer is the vocalist!)
non-CDs
green Otterbox cell phone case
replacement stylus
dslr camera remote
shower seat
TL;DR- I'm very happy with everything. More commentary below the cut:
Just waiting on BB's "Dear Agony" and the Power Station cds. After finding a Breaking Benjamin cd last summer and listening to more on youtube, I knew I needed their cds. Joywave, Deftones, and Say Anything have been on my "batch listen" playlist for ages. I'm listening to the Joywave album now, and it's a nice batch of pop-electronica music. Light on emotions, with some nice grooves and rhythms - a nice contrast to how the rest of this month is going, haha.
Little surprised that "Dear Agony" and Deftone's B-sides both had bonus DVDs. Even more surprised that my computer can't play them? Whatever fuck up happened with running on Win10, it doesn't have a default program to play it. Which is weird, because I could've sworn I once played my Fraggle Rock dvds on it? But yeah, the usual Windows Media Player is no longer supported, though I can run it fine for music. Idk wtf, but it's easier to just go with this stuff than try to import all my playlists into a new program.
Decided to get the Power Station album after watching Professor of Rock's video on Robert Palmer. Like with many songs made before my middle school years, I had heard the songs before and liked 'em but hadn't made the connection. Really, aside from "Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistible", I haven't made the connection that Palmer was the singer for a lot of his songs. Anyway, "Some Like it Hot" is a fun song.
I had asked for 2 phone cases, so I didn't get the one with mushrooms, alas. Good news is that I can transplant my PopSocket onto the Otterbox thing. And my new stylus fits into my phone just fine, so I'm all set!
The seat started cracking on my shower bench, so it was time to get a new one. It's much more narrow, so fingers crossed that it's still comfy to sit on. If not, it was only $30, so not a big loss.

1, 2, and 20! ❤️
if someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
Well, I mean. You’re going to have to watch hockey, duh.
I’d say listen to Breaking Benjamin’s Dark Before Dawn album but This song in particular.
Reading wise, I’d say the Raven Cycle because it tends to speak to me on a spiritual and personal level as well as on a friendship level.
have you ever found a writer who thinks just like you? if so, who?
I don’t think any writer thinks like anyone else, but I have found a few that have come close. My found sister @ophelia-ascendant , being one of them. She’s a wonderful writer and I love everything she writes and all the characters she creates and the way we can bounce ideas off of each other is so amazing. We’ve been writing together for I think about 6 years. My friend Amber is another, she challenges me but she also understands my characters in ways others only think they do. Lady named SJ is another, she pulls out the most descriptive information from me bc she makes me think more.
would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?
so I said Hogwarts but I’m still not sure that’s right. my middle earth love is so strong...

Breaking Benjamin Album Review - Dark Before Dawn (2015)
Hi everyone! Wow, I think I started this series back in May/June and I can’t believe I’m almost done talking about all of Breaking Benjamin’s music (to date). Today (August 21st) is also really special because that means my next BB concert is exactly a month away and I’m beyond excited! And I just want to say thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read or even glance at these. I really appreciate it.
The next album in the Breaking Benjamin discography is “Dark Before Dawn”, released in June of 2015. Before I get into my thoughts, I think it’s important to share a bit of context around the circumstances prior to this album being released. I’m not going to go too far into it but in 2011 Ben Burnley (the lead singer and founder of the band) fired his guitarist (Aaron) and bass player (Mark) for going behind his back and making some music deals without his permission. While the drummer (Chad) stayed on for a little bit, he soon left Breaking Benjamin, citing “creative differences”.
Things looked bleak in terms of Breaking Benjamin ever coming back as a full band again. With his band members gone and Ben suffering from severe health issues, the future of the band looked very dim, leaving many fans including myself completely devastated. So you can imagine just how excited I was in 2014 when I heard that not only was Breaking Benjamin a band again with a fresh, new lineup of musicians, but they were set to release a new album the following year! As excited as I was, though, I did have some doubts. Would the music still be as good? Would the new band members be able to pull off that classic BB sound? Would Ben be well enough to sing like he once did?
Rest assured, as SOON as I heard the first few songs on this album, I knew that all of my worries were invalid. Breaking Benjamin’s “Dark Before Dawn” is an exciting, electric and powerful return that the band really needed. My personal favourites on the album are “Failure”, “Hollow”, and “Never Again”. Do the songs sound a little different than previous albums? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! Every single song is well written and executed. The guitars really shine in this album, perfectly alternating between soft picking and hard power chords. Although there isn’t as much screaming in this album, Ben’s voice is still as strong as ever. I don’t know how they did it, but the music feels somehow familiar and different at the same time.
Breaking Benjamin was able to make an extremely successful return, both thematically and financially. The drawbacks on the album are few and far between, with almost nothing to criticize effectively. If I had to pick one thing to complain about, it’s that I felt the additions of the “Dark” and “Dawn” tracks were a bit unnecessary, as they don’t offer much in terms of actual music.
Honestly though, “Dark Before Dawn” is a KILLER Breaking Benjamin album and holds some of the best music the band has to offer. It might not be my favourite, and it may not be “classic” Breaking Benjamin, but as far as I’m concerned it deserves just as much recognition as any other album.
I’m going to give Breaking Benjamin’s “Dark Before Dawn” an A
